Comdex Life Insurer Financial Profile
Penn Mutual’s excellent standing within the life insurance industry was recently acknowledged by our Comdex ranking -- an impressive 90th percentile when compared to the other companies evaluated by the ratings services. This ranking clearly affirms our financial strength and is an important indicator for our producers to communicate to their clients and third-party advisors when they are in a competitive situation. It is important to note that the Comdex ranking is not a rating. Instead, it is a composite index that is based on the ratings a company has earned from the leading rating services-A.M. Best, Standard & Poor’s, Moody’s, Fitch and TheStreet.com. These ratings are very important in the sales process, but because the rating agencies do not employ a universal ratings scale, it can create a sense of uncertainty when comparing companies to each other. Therefore, the Comdex ranking provides a company’s standing on a scale of 1 to 100, in relation to other companies that have been rated. You may recall that our Comdex ranking last year was 91. Although it appears that we have moved to the 90th percentile, the Comdex web site indicates that “one or two percentage point differences in ranking may be noticed on all life insurance carriers that have a Comdex ranking.” This may be due to the fact that this year alone, 25 carriers have been added to the ranking, and 24 carriers have been dropped. We are proud of our Comdex ranking and hope that you share in our pride! Again, this is another valuable piece of information that producers can communicate to their clients when discussing the advantages of doing business with Penn Mutual.
