Penn Mutual Survey Reveals That 1 in 4 People Believe Life Insurance Would Be a "Wonderful" Holiday Gift

HORSHAM, Pa – December 20, 2016 – Just in time for the season of giving, The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company (Penn Mutual) released a national study on holiday gift-giving trends, ranking items such as life insurance and other gifts in order of what respondents would most like to receive.

Interestingly, 1 in 4 respondents reported that life insurance would be a “wonderful” gift, stating that they view it as a gift from the heart -- a way to protect families and help them achieve their dreams.  Beyond that, 9 in 10 respondents believe life insurance would be a welcomed gift during the holiday season.

Reasons cited by the respondents include: “It’s unique, thoughtful and useful,” “I have it on my long list of things to buy,” and, “The giver would be showing you how much they love you.”

According to Penn Mutual Chairman & CEO, Eileen McDonnell, “At this time of year, when families come together to enjoy what’s truly important in life, it’s gratifying to see that our survey results reveal that people are very receptive to life insurance as a gift that can be given to children, grandchildren, and even charities that are close to their heart.”

“The hot gifts come and go each year,” McDonnell continued.  “But the lasting value of life insurance transcends these fads, and enables families to live life confidently for the long-term.”
