The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company Appoints Karthick Dalawai to Chief Risk Officer Role

HORSHAM, PA – January 14, 2021—Karthick Dalawai officially has been appointed to the role of Chief Risk Officer, reporting to Penn Mutual Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Dave Raszeja. Dalawai joined the company in October 2017 as a Financial Risk Manager and has consistently expanded his responsibilities over the last three years.

“Karthick’s experience, coupled with his ability to understand and synthesize disparate information to deliver an appropriate risk management strategy for the enterprise, has served our organization well,” says Raszeja. “Karthick’s leadership and management will help ensure our financial strength and support our core purpose of serving the long-term interests of our policyholders and contract owners.”

Dalawai is responsible for managing the corporate insurance program, third-party risk management and model controls. He is also a key liaison for independent rating agencies for Penn Mutual, its insurance-related subsidiaries and other subsidiaries and affiliates including the Penn Insurance and Annuity Company (PIA), the Penn Insurance and Annuity Company of New York (PIA NY), Vantis Life, Horner, Townsend & Kent LLC (HTK), broker-dealer Janney Montgomery Scott LLC and Penn Mutual Asset Management LLC (PMAM).

His previous experience includes analyst, consultant and management roles with several international companies. A member of Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA), Dalawai is a certified risk management professional (CRMP) and certified information systems auditor (CISA®). He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Madras, an MBA in Finance from Ohio University, and a Master of Science degree in Enterprise Risk Management from Columbia University.
